WordCamp Bangalore was a fantastic event for me, not because it was my first WordCamp in India, but because I got the opportunity to meet my office colleagues after almost 3 years. Yup, since our team is entirely remote we interact with each other only through digital means – video calls and text messages are the backbone of our team.
About WordCamps
WordCamps are all about meeting the WordPress folks. (developers, testers, support personnel, marketers, product owners, enthusiasts, etc.) in an informal way for business interactions, marketing opportunities, product promotions, and a lot more.
This was the first for Bangalore and it turned out quite well. I met talented individuals, interacted with multiple teams, pitched collaboration ideas, understood their businesses, and made a lot of friends. It was amazing to see a few of the attendees with whom I had interacted for the very first time in WordCamp Asia, again and I was really happy that they recognized me and recalled our first meet.
Interactions at the InstaWP Booth
Since we were representing InstaWP again this time and ours being an emerging WordPress sandbox tool that is popular among the WordPress developers, testers, and support teams, most of the visitors shed compliments and shared their positive experiences with our sandbox tool.
This surely motivated the team and made us proud that we were associated with InstaWP in some way.
The Afterparty
Since a part of the team was meeting for the very first time, we had planned some outings and a dinner party. It was very fulfilling to meet everyone and interact with them physically unlike meeting them in standup calls and monthly review meetings.
Each one had their story to tell and we discussed multiple topics. I believe regular physical interactions would help us in better bonding and all of the team can be on the same page.
The History Walk
We got a chance to explore the Bangalore streets and get a gist of the city’s history. A short slow walk around the city’s famous buildings & historical monuments. The walk ended at the famous VB Bakery where we had a quick snack.
